Splitting lower front ball joint
Does any one else have a special tool which will remove the lower front outer ball joint successfully from the vertical link.
On the older non rover cars I have I have both the rather destructive tuning fork type wedged prong which invariably damages the rubber but does the job and the more delicate lever version which is much more reliable and does not damage the rubber.
I have tried several different ways of doing this job as I need to remove the CV from the hub to replace the CV boot.
Is there a special tool or anyone made a special implement to remove this easily. Takes me longer to remove the lower taper than to replace the CV boot these days.
