Yet another tyre thread, r1r content

My TF still had some rather ropey looking continentals on the front, probably original, and some half worn firestones on the rear. MOT man moaned about the cracking on the contis, which spurred me into buying a new set. I decided I wanted to stick with 15s but tyre choice is very limited. Seeing as its a fair weather car I decided to go for the stickier end of the market:

Toyo R1Rs, 205/50/15 on the rear, the fronts I went with 195/50/15 as the nearest available size to standard. The sidewalls I found to be extremely stiff compared to the old tyres.

Took them out for the first time the other night, happily they decided not to hurl themselves through the nearest hedge in a ball of flames. The steering is a little floaty, will be waiting until I have done a few miles before playing with pressures and maybe adding a smidge of toe-in. I did find that braking is now much more reassuring.

Thought I would post a new thread as I couldn't find any other references to anyone using these rather interesting tyres, I will add to the thread once I have done a few more miles. Is anyone else using these tyres?
