Info on a Cat-C?

Good evening all!

Not sure if this is right place for this thread,

basically im looking to buy a car which is cat c, it has a dent on the rear bumper.

Now i had quick look on the internet and had two different answers, one is that it invalids the current mot till i get it VIC checked then mot.

The other answer i found if im looking to keep the car i dont eed a vic check?



Anyone shed some light onto this for me!
