Tyre Shennanigans OVER!
Well, as some of you may recall, several weeks ago I replaced my rear tyres with Nexen 6000s and immediately it was like driving a marshmallow at speed. Someone (I can't remember who) mentioned that it might be due to the fronts being more worn....
I must admit, I thought "*******s", but it turns out to be true.
In true science fashion I decided to run with them to see if they settled, they got better on lower tyre pressures but never cured.
I then decided, rather than swap over all four tyres and ditch a good set, that I would put a couple of T1-Rs on the front (as the tread was getting lowish). I got them fitted on Monday. This was on the basis that if there was no sure I would put T1-Rs on the back immediately.
Guess what? Problem solved. The car is rock steady with T1-Rs on the front and Nexens on the rear. I would never have thought that the effect could be so dramatic, and was very sceptical about the fronts being at fault because they were more worn. However, it's true.
So I have T1-R's on the front (now done 350 miles) and Nexens on the back (done about 3,000 miles).
So anyone that worries about a "wandering sensation" maybe should consider the tyres.
Happy chappy now! :D
