No such word as can't..

A long time back now I posted about 235 rear tyres fitting.. And a few who had never done it said it can't be done..

Well 235x40x18 was always gonna be hard..

My wheels have 35 offset same as MG..

The only issue I had was the outer edge fouling when the wheel tucked into the arch..

Initially tried rolling the lip.. But nope.. No where near..

So today.. For about an hour I've been heating an area about the size of Wales (but not Wales) with the heat gun.. No worries if I burn paint.. And when the entire back wing was too hot to touch.. I started rolling again.. Actually flaring the arch outwards..

The result is the top dead centre of the tyre is now out about 8-10mm compared to a stock F/TF.. And the huge 235 tyre tucks up inside the arch..

So yes.. 235x40x18s will fit.. But not a straight bolt on..

Do I need 235? Do I need 18" rears... Need you ask..

Anyways some pics.. The edge of the arch has been stone chipped in black so looks dog rough in the pics.. But ya get the idea..

The car is sat on MS lowering pins and the sphere pressure is correct.. So the ride height is about where I want it.. Hence why I needed the tyres to clear when forced upwards..

Finally got the 'look' I was after..
