frequent excessive revs

just recently purchased rover 100 ascot in pretty looking condition.

drove well on trip home but next time out and then always as it warmed up the revs rose sky high. switching ignition off and roll starting temporary

brings revs down.

have tried 3 s/h stepper motors. any sugestions??
