new VNT turbo project
Morning All,
So I know I have been keeping quiet on this for a long time, but been trying to work out my options and my desired end result.
So after doing a ton of research I decided that while not cheap, the new VNT3 technology was something I was prepared to pay for, and it then it meant finding a turbo to suit my needs.
So we basically had GTB 17,20 and 22 family units easily available for a number of different OEM manufacturers, each with top and and lag compromises.
I had been angling for a GTB2056 based on the info from the tdiforums. the vag 1.9 is similar to our old L-series and looked to respond well to it - but could not find one that I wanted to use for the right price.
And then I got offered something I wasn't expecting, but have just placed an order for......
it is a GTB1856VK hybrid - will have similar spool to the GTB17 and slightly higher top end potential - where we struggle to make the same figures as the VAG's so should be 200bhp capable and then some extra headway if I really want to push it...
Will be fitted with a custom manifold being sourced elsewhere rather than adaptor plates.
To start with will just be running with the current hybrid injectors and mapping in place, so wont be at the full potential, but will eventually put in a set of 200TDi's as Phil spec'd and then getting it mapped up to suit to truly set this off.
Planning a custom airbox as well, while this is done to finally get everything sorted out.... probably will be battery to the boot at the same time...
Nothing going to happen for a while as garage window is not until Sept, but when I do get it on the dyno I'll let you all know how it turns out...
