rear disc brakes rubbish

i find in my experience that the rear disc brakes fitted on ZS/45 are rubbish and its been confirmed for me by someone in the trade. i first thought our second mk2 was a one off. when bought for £2000 four years ago, it was a 40,000 mile full history car and a very good example. it said new rear pads were fitted in the add which was true and they were EBC red stuff.

when we got the car home to south wales from birmingham afte a fautless run the first thing was to do our usual work and checks, so water pump, head gasket, img, belts etc next a check of suspension, bushes and brakes and all was well until i got to the rear pads. pads on both sides were stuck in carrier, totally wedged solid and worn into a wedge. so new pads, checked pistons and made sure pads were moving freely. all was well for a couple of months but on checking the pads they had gone the same way, outside pad was stuck solid in carrier and worn in wedge shape.

i next fitted new discs, pads and a pair of new calipers yet after just one year of driving the pads had done the same thing, almost down to metal on one edge plus one caliper is partially siezed.

had the same thing last week with rear pads while checking car for MOT, pads shot, wedged solid and another siezed caliper so i had to fit new again for my daughter to go through the MOT in the rain lol. i was telling the inspector about this after the MOT and he said yes this is very common on these and agreed they are rubbish lol and no before anyone says oh he must hat rovers he is infact very complementry on our cars and says they are underated. K series is another thing he has good things to say about if properly maintained. infact he picked up a mk2 as a run around a month ago, he has a couple of V8 Landys which are beauts.

just wondering has anyone else had this on thiers.

what i cant work out is i have had rover 800 cars and never had this problem once and the set up is vertualy identical. my mk1 vitesse was 18 years old when i stopped using it as i bought a coupe and that still had its original rear calipers. inever once had the piston sieze or pads stick solid in the carriers which seems odd.
