Temperature gauge + traffic jam?
Hello,
Today I spent most of my day in stop-start or non-moving traffic jams courtesy of the M25. Now, the car sat at the normal temperature gauge level, just under the halfway mark all day. Basically was out for like 6 hours driving with only about 30 mins engine-off time.
However, on the way home, I was stuck behind a van with no airspace and I noticed it crept up to just over the midway marker. It didn't rise any further, and to be extra cautious I ran the heater for the rest of the traffic jam - 6 miles. I had no more problems on the way home. Was this simply due to the radiator getting no air through it and hot exhaust gases from a van?
Thanks
John
