- MG launches further pop up dealerships, located at Touchwood Shopping Centre, Solihull and Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch

MG are expanding the Midlands based manufacturers pop up dealership residency with a move into Touchwood Shopping Centre in Solihull, Birmingham from 15-17 September, and Kingfisher Shopping Centre, Redditch from 15-28 September. The additional pop up dealerships follow on from the success of the flagship pop up in Westfield Merry Hill, which has now been running for nearly a year.
Touchwood Shopping Centre, based in the centre of Solihull, West Midlands, is an award winning, 650,000 square foot shopping destination. Opened in 2001, Touchwood boasts over 80 stores, including the only John Lewis department store in the West Midlands, 20 restaurants and a nine screen Cineworld cinema. The MG display will be located in the Map room of the centre, between Gap and Zara.
Kingfisher Shopping Centre opened in 1976 and hosts 160 stores; the centre is well known for its large mosaic panels, designed by famous Scottish artist, Sir Eduardo Paolozzi, which are the largest publically commissioned work of art in the country, valued at several million pounds. The MG stand will be located in Millward Square next to the famous mosaics.
The expansion to the pop up dealership network follows on from dramatic growth for the automotive manufacturers main dealer and after sales network with 50 dealers, and 13 after sales centres now appointed within the UK and MGs year-long pop-up dealership residency at one of the UKs most successful shopping centres, Westfield Merry Hill. All three pop up displays will feature the new MG3 and the award winning MG6; available in both GT fastback and Magnette sports saloon variants. The displays will allow prospective customers to see the product line in the flesh and to talk to fully trained MG Sales Executives.
MG has once again topped the list for growth within the automotive industry, as the Midlands based manufacturer has been named the fastest growing automotive brand in the UK by SMMT every month so far in 2014, the iconic marques 90th anniversary year. MGs parent company, SAIC Motor, recently entered the Global Fortune top 100 with the companys tenth appearance in the annual Fortune 500 list, moving up 18 places from last years result to reach 85th position, with 2013 yearly sales revenues of $92 billion. MGs rapidly expanding dealer network now exceeds 50 dealers, with just under 50 per cent of UK households now within a 30 minute drive of an MG dealer. This growth is set to continue with the aim of 100 retailers expected by the end of 2015.
Success has been due to the recent launch of the MG3 supermini and expansion of the MG6 diesel powertrain family, with a new 129g, 350 Nm performance diesel recently added.
