Some should not be allowed near tools!!!!
One of the things about "Elsie's" ebay listing that caught my eye was the Silver Roll Hoops she had fitted. Although as it turns out "Fitted" is maybe the wrong term. God only knows what whoever did this thought they were doing but take a look at this butchery:-
The bent tab is to stop the box rocking on the mounting in the body and create the idea of stability.
It must have taken some time wielding the angle grinder to do this. The idiot has actually cut off the proper mountings that fitted under the seat belt reels so all that retains the hoops is two 8 mm bolts and to fitt hem he drilled out the two 6 mm captive nuts for the wind stopper. Of course they ten used cheap and long 8 mm bolts with lock nuts but because of where the nuts are you can only turn them about one flat at a time so it took ages to get them undone. By wrecking this they have made fitting more difficult.
So I will have to fabricate a new mounting bar if I wish to fit the hoops back onto "Elsie" Am thinking of reducing the depth and changing the way the hoops are retained to make them stringer yet with less depth the the mounting steel box section. By making steel plugs to go into the tube bottoms bolts can go up into them from below of course they will need to be offset. The other option would be to weld the hoops in place.
