The Big Brake question

Had my first car track day on the 8th my pal took his 135 and me the money pit.

I have recently replaced the front discs and fitted better pads.Upgraded to braided hoses all round replace the fluid. Uprated the rears for 280mm solid discs and better pads. Also have the servo bracket. My friends car is just standard and has little service history as he's just bought it.

This is how things panned out over the course of the day. The track day was an open pit lane so we could do as many or as few laps as you like first 6 laps steady pace both pulled in his brakes very hot, another session after a cuppa 7 laps both came in his brakes smoking and ..well you all know the smell of hot brakes.. more laps he suffered brake fade and to be fair suffered from oil temp being high, I have a standard 160 oil cooler and was running no more than 130 degrees C.(just a side note) So the question is how many tf owners would upgrade their brakes for spirited driving and not track day use. if so can the brakes ever be too big.

On a side note I was lucky enough to be a passenger in a porche gt3 this had the biggest anchors I've ever seen bolted to each corner and the driver still out braked himself....Impressed with the speed no but the Brakes wow.

So how big is too big when it comes to stopping power?
