Advice / Help MGF VVC
Hi. Just posting on here for a little advice or help. Just over a year ago I was driving my 1998 MGF VVC home and the two engine mount bolts failed (The ones you remove to do the cam belt) and this resulted in the engine dropping a little bit. Now the engine didn't hit the floor but It made a nasty sound and was very hard to select gears. It split the down pipe on the exhaust where the secondary cat is. Luckly I was almost home so I limped it onto the drive, parked it up and have not done anything with the car since assuming it has had it. I had spent a lot of money and time on the car and other than that it was running extremely well and had just had a glass rear screen, 4 new tyres, 4 pot callipers etc. My question is this really. Will this drop have resulted in the engine and lots of other things being damaged and or broken or could it simply be the case of finding the part that screws onto the engine that the bolts screw into as the thread has been ripped off. Should I just jack the engine back up into position and start it to see what happens? or would this cause more potential damage? Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
