Brake bleeding woes.
Hi guys,
Wondering whether you can help me, I have a Rover 200 BRM, last year I upgraded the brakes to a set of 282mm from a ZR160 (Initially tried to get my brembodge kit to bleed), however, after hours and hours and hours of bleeding I could only get a mediocre pedal. I have done this upgrade before on my other BRM I currently drive as a daily and they've been absolutely fine apart from a little extra pedal travel.
The car is pretty much ready to go apart from getting the brakes working, I've taken off the callipers and fitted new discs and pads and checked the condition of the calipers, they appear to be perfectly fine, I also fitted braided hoses at the same time.
No matter how we try to bleed the brakes you can't get a a pedal, if you pump it 5 times or so you will get a hard pedal towards the bottom of travel, it will sit there and not sink, as soon as you let off the pedal and press back down again it goes to the floor.
We've bled in the correct order with the engine running about 100 times on each side, I'm using Blue brake fluid and it's easy to tell when bubbles come through the pipe I have connected, however it appears that all that comes out now is fluid, I can't get anymore air out.
When depressing the brake pedal you hear a slight noise from around the ABS pump, you can feel the fluid moving through it, and almost as if you're moving air around in there. We've even changed the ABS pump now and bled it all again to no avail.
I went and bought an Eezibleed system, which doesn't have the correct cap so that's been next to useless.
I'm going to try and borrow a friends vacuum bleeder next and try that.
I was wondering if anyone had a portable T4 I could pay you for your time so we could purge the ABS pump and make sure everything is clear. My next move would then be master cylinder.
