Smoke ?

I have yet another problem with the zr,on start up,I've noticed smoke coming from only the top of the first pipe (manifold exhaust) and the pipe in question has a white patch where it seems to have got hotter than the rest of the exhaust,hope I'm explaining myself,the only other thing I can think of is that the head/rocker gasket could have a leak some where,if this is the case is changing one straight forward,
