automatic oil cooler

hi, I have a 51 plate 77 connie se automatic diesel, Its the model that has the auto oil cooler fan mounted in front of passenger side wing.

I was wondering if it is possible, or ,has anybody converted it to the more modern type .??

is it possible to do ?
