Intermittent wiper problem

Any time I put the intermittent wiper function on, the wipers go up but don't instantly come back down, you have to wait till the relay goes again then they go back down, then the same it waits before going back up.



Is this likely a relay or wiper motor issue?



Or has anyone had it before? Being an mg rover I'm guessing yes lol.
