baffling mgf non starter

Hi all I'm new here and have spent the last 2 hours reading posts hoping someone has had the same issue as me but I can't find one so thought I'd start a new thread hope this is ok and I didn't miss the one I need



Ok a little background I have a mgf 1998 1.8 with no heat issues and runs super sweet but has issues starting on a morning once started it runs well and starts again with no issues until the next morning when it struggles. I plant my foot on the gas and it shutters then starts. Anyway that's not the reason for my post.



Recently it just died in a carpark it turns over but won't start, I could not hear the fuel pump prime so I replaced the pump and relay now I hear the pump prime but it doesn't stop! I left it for 30 minutes and it was still going but it still won't start, there is petrol getting through the fuel filter and sparks at the plugs so I'm lost anyone get any ideas?



I was a painter for ford for many years so know my way around a car but engines are not my thing
