dash Warning Lights

Just jumped into my 2010 TF and the digital temp display is scrolling and the red temp warning light is on. Both started within 20 seconds of starting car, so engine is cold. Have run the car up to temp and cannot hear cooling fans kicking in.(Fan failure?) Have plugged in OBD11 and got P0601 error code(Think it is unrelated to dash lights?) Anyone any thoughts or ideas?
