I had some old paint Aerosols so...
Drove the MG ZT to Tescos and loaded up some food and the December issue of CAR Mechanics Magazine. Always a good read. Just finished a nice curry chicken and rice ... all my own work... Nice. Eat your heart out Jamie Oliver ...
I bid on a cheap set of MG ZT 18" Straight Alloy Wheel Centres ~ plastic version which arrived yesterday. The idea being to repaint them in white so they match the Brilliant White Gloss Wheels I had professionally refurbished recently.
Bit dirty so washed them with some Fairy Liquid in warm water and rubbed the silver areas with 1200 grade wet and dry ( used wet ) to prepare for some White Rover Paint left over in a Aerosol can. Dried all four then carefully masked off the MG Badges in the central area. Then with the masking tape trimmed to suit, gave the wheel finishers a few quick coats of OEW with the Aerosol can and pleased with the result when seen in the weak winter sunshine. Fifteen minutes later followed up with several applications of clear coat lacquer from an aerosol spray can. Good to use these old cans of paint I had laying around for years.
The clear coat lacquer really enhanced the finish even better. Delighted with the end product for so little outlay. Class on a shoestring...
I will allow twenty four hours for the paint to fully harden and then carefully remove the masking tape. I hope it enhances the appearance of the car even further.
Attached four images of the painting process.
Meantime here are the wheels on the car with silver wheel centres before fitting the white ones :~
Well, helps to pass the time at my age ...
