MGF Headlights - Not Adustable ???

Just driven my daughters F in the dark and it is out and out dangerous...I could not see a thing, even on main beam. I've had the lights out before because I thought the adjusters were broken, but from looking at other pics, it seems that 1 has a yellow protusion and the other a white one which looks to be broken off. As it happens, they were just stiff and after some lube, they are moving.....but tonight, with lights, wall and screwdriver, they don't seem to move the reflector assemblies. I just couldn't adjust them at all. The n/s dip illuminates the kerb about 2feet in front and the other beams don't light up anything. I've just driven back with full beam and not 1 person flashed me, and I still couldn't see where I was going.

Which adjuster is supposed to do what?? Can the adjusters become detached inside so they won't do anything? I can't even work out what, if anything, I could 'bend' up even to 'bodge' the aim. I accept that the light won't be brilliant because of their height but they couldn't have allowed a car like this to be on the road.

Any head specialists out there??? :( :(
