Roadside emergency tool kit

My ZR160 came with a spare tyre, dirt and some lolly wrappers (wot?) in the boot, nothing else. Most of you will be aware that attempting to hold a corner of the car off the ground while undoing the wheel nuts with your fingers is hard work at best, not to mention those other funny repairs we find ourselves doing on the side of the road, so I need to start getting together an emergency tool kit.

Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on what these vehicles need?

Obviously:

- a jack. Any preferred alternatives to the ubiquitous scissor jack, available so readily from the wreckers?

- wheel brace - I'll probably use my cross brace.

What spanners, screwdrivers, etc are likely to be of use on the side of the road? I do have auto association membership and have no shame in calling their roadside service to bail me out, but sometimes, it's best to have a tinker first.

This is for normal, around town use only so I don't see the need for a full set of spanners and sockets - they can stay at home in the shed with the torque wrench, trolley jack and other tools of mass disassembly. If I was planning on a long trip, I'd add more.

Thanks in advance.
