Scrap yard find
This might interest some of you.
Went to my local scrap yard today and came across a complete car (minus wheels) that was I very interested in so went to have a... word with the site manager as to how much the whole car would cost. This was his reply. From the 1st of October this year it is no longer possible to sell the whole car from a yard. You can have everything off the car but the chassis has to stay on site. I asked him why that was and this is the answer. All cars that are scrapped now have to by law have a destruction order issued against them. Once that has been done a vehicle chassis can never be used again.
Dam shame this new law as the car in question was a 600Ti, totally straight with no rust, dents and with a fully working engine. Scrapped because of gearbox failure. The guy at the yard did say though that I could have everything off the car including the shell for £300 so long as the chassis remains and that they would move the car to a place where it can be worked on and parts loaded in/onto another vehicle.
NB they happen to have TWO fully complete 600Tis in the yard so if anyone wanting to do a conversion this is the place to get it from.
