Locked boot?

So it seems has tho my boot lock has ether blocked up and has stopped opening or the wire that attaches to it has come off.







Does the wire in the pic need to attach to anything?? The end of the wire is lose with a metal thing on the end. I lock the car with central locking and can hear the boot lock well a click coming form the boot so the power is fine? But then end of this wire should be attached to the lock maybe??
