Upside down Inlet camshaft
Just changed the HG, as mentioned in another thread, but I have a nagging thought that I've refitted the inlet camshaft gear 180 degrees incorrectly.
I had to turn the shafts, to gain access to 2 head bolts, & everything went well, but.....
Head back on, & engine rebuilt, apart from inlet manifold. I turned the crankshaft by hand, & timing marks all line up perfectly, & everything felt smooth.
If I'd messed up by 180 degrees, would I feel resistance of valves hitting pistons, & jamming?
After the gears were off, I noticed that the previous HG repair guy had marked the pins, & corresponding slots, with tippex, but I can't remember if they both were both corresponding when I dismantled :-/
Is there a way to check if it's right without stripping the engine back down, before I start the engine?
It's been a L O N G day!
