220D exhaust rattle, possible cat problem?

Got in the car this evening to go to the gym, bit of a rattle as I'm pulling away and I didn't really think anything of it. After the gym it was rattling a bit more and by the time I got back to the house it was very apparent at idle.

I knelt down to look under the car but nothing was hanging off particularly obviously. I positioned myself so I could press on the pipe with my foot and shake it back and forth and there was a rattle coming from somewhere.

Initial thought is the cat is breaking up. I can see there is a lot on here about that kind of stuff, even parts of the turbo coming loose and ending up in the cat (not great). If the cat is breaking up how difficult is it to gut the thing? Is it just a matter of brute force, hammering a cold chisel/broom handle through it or is there an actual technique?

Cheers guys.
