Cup Holder options - Any pics of behind the centre console please?

Evening all,



Annoyed with the lack of cup holders I have been looking into options. The Rover armrest solution is far from ideal; They get in the way of your elbow and the cubby is a useful storage space:



There are other options, for example the Golf / Bora and similar units:







These can fit underneath the ash tray but that takes away just over an inch of the storage height and are pretty close to the gear stick..



I really like the Saab cup holders as they can be mounted in a better position, take up little space internally and are a rather neat solution..

From the outside of my Mk2 45 centre console it there is lots of space for me to create a neat slot to fit them into on each side of the climate control:







And looking at the climate control unit there should be enough room either side to fit the Saab internals:







However, the one thing I cannot find a picture of is the structure behind the centre console face. Is there space either side of the climate control unit?



Any pictures or advice would be gratefully received. And, if I go ahead I will of course write all the proceedure up with pics etc for anyone else to follow...
