grinding noise from clutch, dodgy throwout bearing?

first post on these forums but read plenty of threads since i got my rover 3 years ago.

got a rover 25 Y reg and today i noticed that when i push my clutch in a slight grinding noise is heard. i normally play music whilst driving but today i had to concentrate and heard this sound. asked my garage over the phone and they said it sounds like the throwout bearing needs replacing aka they would just replace the entire clutch = £350

the problem is I'm around 100 miles away from the garage, i have no money (cars worth around £500 ) and I'm due to go on holiday in a week plus the airports another 100miles south of where i am now. (200miles from home)

1st - do you think its worth replacing the clutch etc? this car has been great. bar some rats chewing through some electrics 2 years ago iv had no problems with it.

2nd - how long do i have before it all starts to go wrong? i know this is impossible to tell but just a general idea would be great.

thanks!
