Head unit showing"No Discs" when CD multichanger selected

Hi all,

This refers to the standard MG-Rover fitment:



I have tried disconnecting the multichanger in the loadbay to no avail. It ejects the caddy but no sounds of it cataloguing the cds when pushed back in. Is it fubared do you think?
