Key fob / Immobiliser help needed.

Hi all, I have not posted for some time due to family commitments but need some help now. I have searched the forum but can't find the relavent information. My N reg mgf has been sat unused for the last two years in my garage. Today I scraped off the dust, made sure the engine is free by removing the spark plugs and turning it over by hand. Charged the battery on the car and plucked up the courage to start it, only to discover the key fob does not seem to be working. Thus I can't disarm the immobiliser to crank over the engine. I have replaced the battery in the fob but still not joy. All suggestions greatly received.
