Rover 25 speaker / stereo fault

Hi all,



I have a 2001 plate rover 25 which has developed a stereo / speaker fault. Both are aftermarket products as the speaker blew up and I wanted to play cds.



So the problem is as follows : the stereo has no sound. It has power to it as all the lights come on but will not produce sound. We originally thought this was to do with the stereo being a bit old so I brought a new one but it does the same, no sound.

I have checked the connections from the wiring loom to the stereo are pushed in fully, have taken them apart and given them a good blow to no avail.

The wire behind the stereo up to the back of the middle blowers seems fine.

If I open the passenger side doors I sometimes get sound for a few seconds.

I don't know what to do next and I really don't want to buy and fit new speakers to find out it isn't them thats the problem. The ones that are in at the min are only 4 years old.



Is there a common fault anyone knows about?



Any help greatly received.
