My first ever MG - a TF.
Hi all,
I was looking about on Ebay for some affordable used cars in my area. I came across a 2004 MG TF with just 29,000 miles on the clock and it seemed to be an absolute bargain! There was literally minutes left for the auction to run so I wasn't able to find out much about the cars in advance, or even see the car itself beforehand, so I took a risk and stuck a bid in. And I got it!
Check it out:
So far the car seems to drive well and I don't appear to have been stung by my reckless bidding. But to be honest the winning bid was so cheap that the risk was pretty low. There are a few niggly problems, and annoyingly there's a small tear in the rear window, but overall she seems sound and having driven about for a couple of days I'm pretty hooked!
One thing I did notice while checking the fluids is that there's a bit of 'goo' on the engine oil dip-stick. This is of course moisture in the oil, which is concerning for an engine which is known to blow head gaskets. Still, the car has seen very limited and intermittent use so it might just need a bit of running. I'll do that over the next few days, keeping an eye on the fluids, and if I start losing coolant I guess I'll have my answer!
