New 45 1800 iXL
I posted this in Introduce myself tab but at FIGO's recommendation I am reposting here.
Just wanted to say hi to everyone. I'm a lifelong classic Rover lover starting with a P6 TC back in 1977 and reckon I've had most of the post war models except a Mini, 100, SD1, 213/216 and a 75. I have a still have a P6 2000 and a P4 90 and always had a 'modern' rover for commuting.
My 2000 'Y' Reg 1800 IXL 45 got severe damage when the rear door got rammed last May but I've carried on using it until the MOT was due to run out (which is 13th April) so on looking around have found a very lovely and unmarked 2003 1800 iXL with only 23,000 miles on the clock, full cream leather, Nightfire Red. Originally from the Chesterfield area it was bought a year ago by a man in Croydon and I've got it from him.
The old car is up for sale if anyone is interested and I'll list it with some pics soon (yes I have paid my £12 subs).
Questions you may be able to help with are as follows:-
Parts. Rimmers have a good website with pics but who or what are X-Part?
If I go to their dealers with chassis no etc can they look up/supply parts?
Since buying the car I've discovered the trim code(LPR) says it was originally a cloth trim. Someone has made a good job of fitting the leather and door cards (which look almost brand new) but are there any other bits that would have come with leather they may not have fitted, steering wheel cream inserts perhaps?
In the boot on the right there are two velcro straps without contents, what would have been here originally? First aid kit perhaps?
The trafficmaster clock is u/s but I've read the thread on here about fitting an earlier clock which is probably the way to go, also need some carpet/trim clips plastic rivets but guess these can be picked up from most local car spares places, Rimmers prices were a bit on the optomistic side!
Thanks and look forward to any help you can give
Regards
Alan
