Banging in the back end

No, not that you naughty boy.

When I go around a tight, right hand corner at ... um ... enthusiastic speed, there is a bang bang bang at the rear.

If it was at the front, I'd say it was worn CV joints, but it's not, it's at the back where there aren't any.

While it was up on the stands today, I slid in underneath at the back for a look. It appears that the hard cornering is causing the exhaust to bang against the body - you can see a mark where it's hitting and pulling on the exhaust with your hand confirms it. I can't remember exactly what it was it's hitting against and now she's on the ground again, I can't get underneath far enough to see.

The problem is just in front of the rear exhaust box and near the hanger shown as 11 in this diagram from Rimmer Bros.

The rubber hanger at that point isn't shown at that point for some reason.

The rubber hangers all look in good condition however, is it reasonable to suggest that they've softened over the years and are allowing too much movement?

If so, would I replace only the rubber hanger at the point of contact or would I replace the two rear rubber hangars as well?

They're cheap enough on Rimmers but once I import them to Oz, they'll be expensive. With luck, I'll be able to get the Land Rover ones here at a decent price and I'll get all three, maybe even the front ones as well.

Any thoughts? Will changing a rubber hanger or three or five solve my banging problem?

Should I just drive sensibly? Nah, that'd be daft.
