oil temperature guage

hi

the oil temperature guage in my 04 TF still works/reads correctly but is now steaming/misting up on all journeys. The effect covers over half the screen so very noticeable.



this seems a pretty common fault, is there anything which can be done other than replacement? i am sure i have seen some sold with a ring/washer, can this be replaced instead?



i know there are plenty for sale on ebay however although i am sure they will work, they are 2nd hand so also possible to mist up
