Removing the hazard switch on a 2004 streetwise

Can anyone give me some guidance on removing the hazard switch from the centre consul. Its a mates car and he wants me to do it. Not so sure about this . I have been reading the problem is unlikely to be the switch because the indicators still work and it may be the SCU. But in order to eliminate the switch I will replace it after checking fuse No 7 in the engine compartment. Any advice would be great. Thanks
