bleeding a streetwise fuel filter

Hi everyone , was just wondering if anybody has any ideas about my 2.0 diesel streetwise. I have just changed the fuel filter and being a complete novice with diesel engines I didn't bleed the system , the car started but has been running a bit rough. I have since bled the filter and undone the injectors to get rid of any air in the system. The car runs fine after doing this but when left over night the fuel filter is empty of fuel and needs to be bled again. I have bled the filter about 5 times now and each time I check it the next day the filter is empty again. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Many thanks Ken.
