cam seals

bugger! all was well with my HG change recently but I have gone to change the oil today and oil is leaking from cam belt end of the engine

I replaced both pairs of camshaft oil seals - black at belt enbd, brown at gearbox end, - but I didnt use any sealant on the outer parts where they press in and I have read somewhere today that I maybe should have done.

looking at the gearbox side theres no oil coming from under the seals at that end, so I took the upper cam belt cover off and the belt itself is dry, I would think its going to be one or both of the cam oil seals on that end, the back part of the belt cover was in the way and of course the cam wheels to be able to see further.

Looking at the dip stick it hasnt lost anything significant in two weeks, oil is just about dripping off the bottom of the engine and onto the suspension arm and there is further evidence of this where the car is regulalry parked.

So, another full days job to rectify!! but all of my own doing - before replacing those seals when I did my HG I thought to myself "just leave them, they arent broke so dont try to fix them" - wish I had now!!

Now - has anyone out there got two spare unused cam oil seals perhaps left over from another job? get in touch and name your price
