The 1.4T, 1.5T and 2.0T NSE / NLE Engines
So just looking at the link here: http://ift.tt/1BTlmBH
1.5T
It appears then that the "new" 1.5 Turbo unit with the more modern transmissions can produce more power than the older 1.5 figures even factoring in the turbo. This is good . 124KW according to the above link which is 169bhp - thats not bad a from a 1.5 and should make for a decent engine in the MG CS/GS/GTS/CTS and the MG6, whilst creating a very warm MG GT and a hot MG3. 250NM torque between 1700 and 2500 rpm is very nice and will make it feel very tractable in the everyday drive changes and in gear acceleration from lower speeds.
MPG is converted to 42MPG, which is less than the claimed 57MPG in the MG3, however its a heavier car and features a turbo which may be a performance not economy based focus. 42MPG, for such a large car, isnt bad - though its still about 3-4 years behind current engines on that front. Id expect it to make about 45-50mpg in the MG6 and about 50-55mpg in the MG3.
Again no word on emissions.
2.0T
Things get interesting here.
Power is rated at 162KW, which equates to around 220bhp. Thats a nice slab for a 2.0 and is in line with the rest of the modern market, at least for mainstream consumer cars.
350nm torque between 2500-4000 though seems very promising, the car should really shift when on boost and driven correctly, excellent promise for a RWD car that engine.
Economy is listed as 36mpg, which again isnt terrible but not enough from a 2015 car and is about 5 years off the pace. This make it about 20% less fuel efficient than the 1.5T for current economy, so in a 6 we could expect around 40-42MPG and about 45-47mpg in a lighter car like the MG3.
1.4T
Now the 1.4T and NASP 1.4 is an engine I've had some experience with already. The NASP 1.4 is horrid, an 87bhp terd. Dont bother. The Turbo 1.4 is currently on sale now in the Corsa, that model is an eco-tune mode engine, set at 100 bhp. Its lack lustre still, but in full format at around 150PS its a nice engine with good low down gusto, though wont be quite as on song as SAIC's new Turbo 1.5. Torque is unknown to me, id expect somewhere around 225 NM at 2000rpm from my experience so far.
54 MPG is the current combined target for the 1.4Turbo in Eco tune, with the harder tune and revised sensors, as will be found in the ADAM S, it will be aiming to be a little lower, around 48-50 MPG. I managed 48mpg while testing a 1.4T Eco.
Epect emissions to be around 125 g/cm for the 148bhp version, and again around 120 for the 1.4T in NASP format.
I do rather wonder whats going to happen to the NASP 1.5 currently in the MG3 and why they would even bother selling it anymore. It cant compete economically with the 3 Cylinder Eco engine for economy and power is handled by an eco-1.4T IF SAIC can use it.
If SAIC are going to use the 1.4T in the 148bhp guise, I dont know why they wouldnt then use the 1.5T in the same cars. Using the 1.5T in the MG6 makes little sense to me, if its intention is to be a petrol eco version...
EDIT
MG are currently using the 1.4T @ 110kw (148bhp) in China in the MG5
The same link also shows that the 1.5T is currently producing 127bhp in China, so the version shown on the same source in the MG CS, has some 42bhp improvement over the current offering. Thats impressive.
