Brake pedal harder than most

Hi all,

My brake pedal feels a bit harder than other cars... I don't have another Rover to compare to, but maybe it's common for these cars?

This is my first car so I didn't question the hardness of the pedal at first... But every time I let someone else drive it, I get complains that my brake pedal is a bit hard. And when I drive another car, I often find myself braking too hard :-)

I don't think it's a servo/vacuum issue because I can feel it working when I start the engine. I also once had to drive it towed, with the engine off, and I know what the pedal feels like without vaccum. And the vacuum seems to be holding for a bit after engine turn off.

It's definitely not that hard, and the brakes seem to work well. I can easily bring the car to a stop, and I had one or two emergency braking where I felt the ABS kick in.

So I don't think this issue poses any danger, it's more a comfort thing. Did someone have a similar issue? Or is it just normal on Rovers? Thanks for your advice!
