Noisy gearbox

Hi everyone.

I bought a 2002 Rover 25 1.6 off of Ebay for the grand sum of £50....not bad considering its MOT'd until January next year.

Obviously for the price its got some issues which I'm working through.

So far replaced centre exhaust, replaced sunroof seal, tomorrow fix broken wires to rear wiper and demister.

The main problem is that the gearbox is noisy in 1st and 2nd gears....all other gears sound fine.

In 1st its pretty noisy, less noticeable in 2nd, and quiet in 3rd upwards.

Is it worth trying to repair the box, or just get a good second hand one?
