intermittant blower

My 2002 R45 diesel heater blower has stopped working intermittently, it works on all speeds fine but when i get back in the car after having the blower on a few times now it has been dead, the fan speed switch does nothing but l can hear the Ac clutch click so that part works, then after a few mins l turn the switch and it works again.
Do you think it could be the blower resistor? or perhaps the heater controls?
Has anyone has similar issues?
