2005 MGZR Flickering Headlight Problem

Hi all, just joined the forum, have just acquired an 05 ZR with 12 months MOT, everything is fine on it apart from the fact that the headlights and dash lights flicker when I'm at the lights or at a standstill. I have replaced the battery with a new one and the same things happening, car was stood for about 8 months, not sure if it's something to do with the alternator? Would it be worth overhauling the alternator?

Anyone else had the same problem?
