Emissions and Engine Management light
I took my 1.4 R45 for its MOT last night. It failed on emissions. CO was at 7.22% Vol and HC at 327ppm. The CO was twice the legal limit, the HC was OK. The car was driving fine beforehand but the Engine management light came on during the test.
I have used an OBD2 reader and got a code P0170 and another code telling me there was a previous problem with a misfire on cylinder 2. I cleared these faults.
The car is now running with the engine warning light off and I'm getting no faults on the OBD2 reader.
My question is - when the misfire occurred in cylinder 2 at some stage in the past, did it put the car into some sort of mode that made it run too rich and now that I've cleared the fault code it's running properly again?
