Stranded!!!!

I have not seen any mention of the following. At the weekend MG hillclimb at Mt Cotton in Queensland Australia, another competitor, also in an MGF, lost the rear end at Lovers Leap and did a very controlled slide in wet grass.

This resulted in a considerable amount of grass and stones and dirt stuck in the bead of the tyre. He dug out most of it but it was obvious that the tyre needed to come off the rim and cleaned. So the offending tyre went into the boot and the space saver was used.

No it wasn't. Our MGF's have the big brake rear kit. THE SPACE SAVER WILL NOT FIT ANY WHEEL WITH BIG BRAKES!!!!

I went cold as I have been in Western Australia for the Nation meeting at Easter and driven over at lot of WA south of Perth. There were places where we didn't have mobile phone signals and traffic was so light that we could go for about 2 hours without seeing another car. Really, two hours and NO TRAFFIC! not even a wombat!!!

So if you have the big brake kit fitted, it is time to get a full size spare that will fit over your big brake kit. I must tell Peter to mention this when he sells the big brake kit and also mention it to MS, as in Australia sitting on the side of a road with a flat and no means of fixing it is not a great way to end a day. This may be a minor issue in the UK as when we were there a few years ago, you were never far from help. Outside the major towns in Australia is a very different story.
