can anyone help me clear eml light?
As above, bought a new cheap car (45 td) on a 51 reg as a replacement for my dead old one and am having some fun to say the least. Basically it started when I plugged in my MAFAM last week along with a cheap MAF of ebay, the car had been running the MAF on it's own with no problems. I decided to fit the MAFAM anyway as I had it in the shed, now here is where the fun started - I plugged it in correctly and it instantly blew the engine fuse under the bonnet, I replaced the fuse and removed the MAFAM however the car started fine but with the EML light on solidly (one with the ! symbol) took the car for a spin and the new MAF was now also dead. I tried the paper clip trick and boom full power but still EML light defiantly lit. I talked to my partners father and we tried both his code readers on the car, both connected to the ecu but neither could read any stored codes, so me being me decided that I would fit the ecu and 5AS out of my old car that I have just scrapped and hey presto light gone - felt good thinking free fix. However I bought a new MAFAM and connected it today and pop goes the fuse, no power in engine just like no MAF signal, so swapped the MAF for an old genuine one from the previous car and now it runs fine with the new MAFAM however I am now stuck with a fault code and EML light however I have no way of reading and clearing the faults, anyone know of a localish garage to the Hereford area with correct code reading equipment??
