Car won't start

It was running yesterday, start a slight knocking which very quickly got worse and then the car cut out.



Coils, plugs and leads have been checked. Timing has been checked. Oil and coolant all good.



It will start after a while with your foot on the throttle but makes a hell of a racket.



Anything else to check before the head comes off?
