My findings after removing head!

Hi all,

I removed the cylinder head today on a K-series because its been leaking coolant down the block. Found a MLS gasket been fitted and its got 5 layers and is 2mm thick.

Is this normal?

The liners are not .004 proud but are near .002-.003 on cylinders 1,2 and 4 and no 3 is .001 proud.

Also the face of the head is a bit of a mess and looks like the fire rings have marked it but it does look straight.

Is the MLS normal beening 2mm thick?



Do I have a problem with the this block?
