To flush or not?

To cut a long story short, my F hasn't had a good winter with fluids.

Firstly, it started loosing coolant. Not a lot so I kept it topped up.

As the temperature started to drop, I notice mayo on the dipstick and

panic.

So, I drop the oil, which turns out to be nice clean 2000 mile old Magnatec and refill with 5w30 Helix Ultra and a new filter.

Clean for a while, but then mayo on the dipstick returns and coolant continues to disappear.

So, I replace the broken bottle cap with a nice new one. And the coolant loss stops. Whew!

Still getting mayo, but put it down to condensation. Feel a lot happier when

I discover there's no mayo on the engine top filler.

Then the tapping starts. Loud on startup for around 1-2 seconds then disappears, but after a while it remains during normal running until the engine gets properly warm (ie the oil temp gets > 80c)

So, time for an oil change I think.

Castrol Magnatec 10w40 and a new Bosch filter in hand, but I'm also tempted to put a bottle of Forte engine flush through it.

Is this a good idea or should I just dump the damp, wrong grade Helix out and refill?
