zr mk1 to mk2 tailgate

hi I've been trying to sort my tailgate out. I've stripped all the interior trim from the tailgate and in the boot. I've unplugged the loom from the tailgate by the windscreen washer/motor and tried to pull it through the tailgate via the right side rubber grommet but no luck as it keeps getting stuck. So tried the other way. Unplugged the loom inside the boot and tried to pull it out via the right side grommet but no luck there either as it doesn't even budge. So basically is there another way of getting the loom out so i can finally get the tailgate off as its ******ing me off now. Any pictures will be massively helpful or a walk through.
